Antropolożka wobec sacrum i przyjaźni w terenie. Badania wśród chrześcijan „żyjących jak w czasach Jezusa” w Sydney w Australii

The emergence of new religious movements is a phenomenon characteristic of contemporary, late modern culture. This article provides a report from an ethnographic fieldwork lead in the Summer of 2004 in Sidney, Australia among the members of a new religious movement reviving biblical Christian tradition. There are two aims of this article: one is to interprete the meaning of the elements of the world constructed within this community, with a particular stress on the idea to "live as the first Christians" - a reconstruction of the way of living of the first Christians, which shapes both individual lives and the existence of the community. Such an analysis might allow for a more general conclusion on the genesis and ways of functioning of this sort of religious movements of late modernity. The other aim of the article, a methodological one, is to participate in the discussion on the problems a researcher of culture, an anthropologist, encounters during fieldwork, and to analyze the relationship between the researcher and his/her interlocutors (Others).
