Aeginetan Cooking Pottery in Central Greece and Its Wider Perspective
The paper examines evidence for exports of Aeginetan cooking pottery in the eastern part of Central Greece, in particular from the site of Mitrou. It is divided into three parts. In the first part, the general development of that class is presented, outlining the basic shapes and their chronology for each of the three chronological stages. In the second part, the evidence from sites in Central Greece is presented, providing information not only on the distribution and consumption of Aeginetan cooking pottery, but also shedding light on the problem of production and its history. The concluding part of the article attempts to interpret collected evidence against the socio-economic background, both in Central as well as in the Southern Greece.
