Przemiany przestrzenne małego miasta na przykładzie Prusic
Prusice town is situated in the north part of Lower Silesia voievodeship in Żmigrodzka valley. Initially it was a market settlement, but from the oldest historical remittances it appears that in the 18th century it already had the status of a town. Traditionally formed with Market Square and the Market Hall which is a dominant and which is situated centrally. It was a quiet town until the Second World War with the number of inhabitants around 2000 to 2500. In 1951 Prusice lost its town status but received it again on the 1st of January 2000.
The attachment of Górkowice village, situated south-east of the former town, in 1975 had an undoubted influence on the spatial shape of the town. The building formation in the village consists of former farmhouses which differs by its character from the compact building formation of the former town Prusice. A specific spatial set was created in this way. Two housing estates of detached houses are presently being built to join them. Building a ring road in 1980 had a beneficial influence on the town. Thanks to it, highroad no 5 passes round the centre and a beautiful panorama of the Old Town with two church towers and the Market Hall can be seen from the road itself.
The current local spatial development plans provide mostly areas designated for building houses and service points in the area of the town. They lack the areas designated for greenery and open spaces. It would be beneficial to include areas of such destination in future development plans of the town. It would have a positive influence on the spatial shape of the town and on the quality of life of inhabitants.
