Dr Stefania Mazurek (1900–1987) – nauczycielka młodzieży i dorosłych w latach 1921–1968
Aim: The aim of the work is to present the pedagogical and didactic work of Stefania Mazurek. Methods: A biographical method, an analysis of archival materials Results: An attempt was made at reconstructing the path of life and didactic work in the changing social and political conditions on the territory of Upper Silesia, in Warsaw and in Opole Region in the postwar period based on archival materials. Conclusions: Mazurek was one of the first Polish teachers in secondary education system in Silesian Province (Voivodeship). In the time of the German occupation of Poland, she organized the Secret Pedagogium of Western Lands in Warsaw, which educated students preparing to be active teachers in that region. She implemented the conception of re-Polonization grammar comprehensive school in Opole in the postwar period as well as managed the Department of Foreign Languages in the Opole-based Teacher Training College – the first college of higher education in the region.
